We had a delightful family holiday on Arran, based in Westfield. The house is next to the water with stunning views of the setting sun. It is a short walk to the beach, and an only slightly longer walk to a shop and a friendly restaurant in Pirnmill. The house is very well equipped and furnished, with the Rayburn in the Kitchen/Dining room giving off a friendly heat. On rainy evenings, we really enjoyed the wood burning stove in the living room. We loved watching all the small birds who visited the feeder just outside the Dining room window. We had a great time exploring Arran, whether taking a (rather strenuous) hike up Goatfell, or exploring Kingโ€™s Caves. The numerous stone circles and standing stones were fascinating and atmospheric. The tour around Arran distillery was informative and fun, with a very knowledgeable guide. We also learned a lot at a great talk about the geology of Arran at the Arran Heritage Museum, which prompted a couple of our following trips, to see some of the formations he described. All in all, it was a near perfect week.
