All in all: this is a great place to go on holiday We had such a lovely time in Westfield. After many years of staying on the East coast of Arran this was now the first time on the opposite side of the island. We should have done it earlier! It was spring and the house was overlooking a field full of sheep with their newborn lambs and then over the Kilbrannan sound towards Kintyre. The beach is close by and you can have a nice walk to the village of Pirnmill to pick up our Scottish morning rolls. We had great walks around the local coastline but also at Machrie, Lochranza, up to Goat fell and up Glen Sannox and down Glen Rosa. The rhododendrons at Brodick castle were in full bloom. The house is very comfortable with a cosy kitchen inviting you to cook lovely meals and have a chat with the family plunged on the sofa. Upstairs there are some comfortable bedrooms, 3 of which are overlooking the sea. The shower room and the bathroom were top notch. The lounge downstairs is comfortably furnished with some large sofas and a log burner which we made use of. You can buy logs locally or get some driftwood from the beach. Throughout the house you will find some great photographs. Thanks also for the small library including books on wildlife and of course a book with plenty of ideas for walks, some DVDs and a few novels and games in case the weather shouldn't be too kind.
